Geo Lounge contributors help inform the larger geography community about news happening in the various fields of geography such as biogeography, economic geography, climatology (including climate change), physical geography, and more.
How to Become a Geo Lounge Contributor
Qualifications: To become a Geo Lounge correspondent, applicants must have strong written skills and the ability to take complex geographic concepts and synthesize them in order to be easily understood by the general public. Ideally, applicants should either have a background in geography or have a proven strong interest and self education in geography.
There are two types of submissions:
Submitting a geography news summary: News summaries should be a 300 – 600 word post about a current (not older than 2-3) days news items relating to geography. Recent news about climate change, trends in urban geography, conservation efforts, regional and global economy are all examples of geography related items most popularly seen in the news. Other news briefs can be short posts about interesting maps making the rounds.

Submitting an article: Articles about geography concepts, geographic phenomenon, and book reviews are examples of the types of longer articles accepted on Geo Lounge. These articles are longer than news posts and can range in length from 700 – 1,200 words.

To submit a news item or article for consideration, email the following to email@example.com:
- A well written geography news summary or article not previously covered on Geo Lounge.
- A brief introduction to who you are, your geography background, and links to your web site and social media account. If your article is accepted, this information will form your author page.
Benefits of Becoming a Geo Lounge Correspondent
Publishing on Geo Lounge provides the contributor with the opportunity for increased visibility within the geography community. Correspondents to Geo Lounge will have their own author page which provides a biography, picture, and links to the contributors personal web site and social media accounts. The latest contributions will be listed on the author page which the contributor can promote. All posts will have the byline of the contributor displayed and the top three contributors each week will be promoted in the weekly Geo Lounge newsletter. Please note that Geo Lounge offers no monetary compensation for submissions.
